Paris and the Haute Couture
It was in Paris that Hanae Mori, after a decisive meeting with Coco Chanel, decided to become an international couturier. Already a “grande dame” of Japanese fashion, she made a name for herself in two collections and joined the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute-Couture in 1977. It was in Paris that she created her fashion, designing European clothes with a touch of Japanese beauty.
